This TV crime drama follows an american journalist, living in Tokyo and working for a major Japanese newspaper, the Meicho, as he begins exploring the dark and dangerous world of the Japanese yakuza. The setting alone is reason to watch. The characters and story compliment it as well as complicate it.

[Read] JOHN PAWSON
The minimalist man - John Pawson is an architect and design icon who, surprisingly, has never formally qualified as an architect. There are many insightful reads on him and his work. I personally subscribe to minimalism and find Pawson’s point of view compelling. In a recent profile in Kinfolk, Pawson speaks on this approach and describes the quality of an object or space when it is no longer possible to improve it by substraction.

Featuring Devon Turnbull’s brutalist audio systems along with USM case goods, seating, and other furniture, as well as Kvadrat Acoustics’ Soft Cell panels, this listening room offers a calming environment in which to contemplate music and escape the disruption of outside noise. I happened upon the room on a quiet thursday afternoon and enjoyed Floating Points ‘Promises’ created with Pharoah Sanders & The Londen Symphony Orchestra.
